Privacy Policy
A plain-language explanation of what location data and photos GPS Geo Tagging touches, how it's stored, and the choices you have over it.
The short version
- On the Free plan, your photos, GPS coordinates and timestamps are stamped and saved locally on your device — we don't see them.
- On the Pro plan, files are only sent to the cloud folder (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive) you personally connect and authorize.
- We never sell your location data or photos to advertisers or data brokers — full stop.
- You can revoke camera/location permissions or delete your data at any time from your device settings.
Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how GPS Geo Tagging ("we", "us", "our") handles information when you use our mobile application and this website (together, the "Service"). We built this product for field professionals who need accurate location proof — not for advertising, and not for tracking people. This policy is written to reflect that.
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree with any part of this policy, please don't use the Service.
Information we collect
Location data
The app reads your device's GPS sensor to determine latitude, longitude, altitude and accuracy at the moment you take a photo. This is the core function of the Service and is only captured when the camera is actively in use or a location is manually saved by you.
Photos & media
Photos you capture, along with the map thumbnail, timestamp and any project tag or note you add, are saved as image files. On the Free plan these stay in your device's local storage. They are never uploaded to our servers unless you explicitly enable a Pro cloud-sync destination.
Device & usage data
We may collect basic technical information — device model, operating system version and app version — to diagnose crashes and keep the app working across devices. This is not linked to your identity.
Account & payment information (Pro plan only)
If you start a Pro trial or subscription, our payment processor (the Google Play Store or Apple App Store) handles your payment details directly — we never see or store your full card number. We receive only a confirmation of your subscription status.
How we use it
- To stamp coordinates, date, time and a map thumbnail onto your photos at the moment of capture.
- To let you save and geofence frequently visited locations for faster tagging.
- To generate PDF/CSV/KML exports and reports you request on the Pro plan.
- To sync files to the cloud folder you connect, if you turn that feature on.
- To fix bugs, improve accuracy and keep the app compatible with new devices.
We do not use your location history or photos to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell this information to third parties.
Where your data lives
By default, everything the app captures — photos, coordinates, timestamps, saved locations — is stored locally in your device's own storage, the same as any other photo you take. We do not run a central database of user photos or location history.
If you enable Pro cloud sync, files are sent directly to the third-party storage account you authorize (Google Drive, Dropbox or OneDrive). That provider's own privacy policy governs how they store and protect your files once uploaded — we recommend reviewing it.
Sharing & third parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information or location data. We only share information in these limited situations:
- Cloud providers you choose — only when you connect a Pro sync destination.
- App stores — Google Play and Apple App Store process payments and provide crash analytics under their own privacy terms.
- Legal requirements — if required to comply with a valid legal request, such as a court order.
- Business transfers — if GPS Geo Tagging is ever acquired or merged, user data would transfer under the same protections described in this policy.
Security
We apply reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information from loss, misuse or unauthorized access — including keeping capture data on-device by default and encrypting any data in transit to a cloud destination you connect. That said, no method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
Your choices & rights
- Permissions — you can revoke camera or location access at any time from your device's system settings. The app simply won't be able to stamp new photos until access is restored.
- Deletion — deleting a stamped photo from your device deletes it completely, since we don't keep a server-side copy on the Free plan.
- Cloud disconnect — you can disconnect a Pro cloud destination at any time from within the app; this stops any further sync but doesn't retroactively delete files already uploaded (manage those from the cloud provider directly).
- Access & correction requests — reach out via the contact details below and we'll respond within a reasonable timeframe.
Children's privacy
GPS Geo Tagging is intended for professional and field-work use and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
International users
GPS Geo Tagging is used by field teams in many countries. Because capture data stays on your device by default, it generally never crosses a border at all. Where you enable cloud sync, your files are subject to the storage locations and safeguards of the cloud provider you selected.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Service or for legal reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we'll provide a more prominent notice within the app.
